We are experimenting next weekend. I signed up for a free weekend getaway to Williamsburg – we love Williamsburg – knowing that it was a pitch for a timeshare company. They framed it as a contest when I entered, but we all knew what it was. Well, we “won”! So, next weekend we are going to their 90 minute tour and pitch. We already know that we’re not going to buy into anything, but they’re giving us $100 and a free 3 day, two night stay at their property, good for a year. I can’t turn down free money and a free getaway. Supposedly all they want are good reviews for their renovated property. If it’s good, I am more than happy to give them a good review. If not, well, they won’t get their good review, will they?
This is the first time we’ve done something like this, so we’ll see how it goes. A friend did one of these and it was legit. They gave them the getaway even though they didn’t buy in. I’m willing to go out there, give them an hour and a half, then go get some lunch, all while the in-laws watch the kids, for a long weekend trip to one of my favorite places.
Like I said, all of this is next weekend, so I’ll let you know how it goes.
