I sewed! It’s been over a year since I picked up a needle or sat at a machine. I bought a gorgeous dress but the straps were too long. So, I tailored them. It’s not much, but I’m hoping it’s the start of a trend. I have a spandy new sewing machine waiting for me (a present from my Mom), still in the box, and I’m hoping I have the time to get to play with it soon. This was just a little hand sewing job I did today – took all of five minutes. But it felt nice to put the dress on and have it fit perfectly.
I have all of the pieces and parts to make a beautiful dress, I just need to find a day where I am not running crazy and I can set up the new machine, play with it, and get the dress made. Maybe this weekend. The biggest stumbling block isn’t even finding time, it’s finding space. I don’t really have anywhere to set the thing up! I’ll get something figured out though, I really want that dress.
Knowing that I have the machine – it even does embroidery – has gotten me looking into sewing more things. If I ever clear out space to use it, I have a few projects that I want to get started. I also have a couple of books on how to size patterns so that they fit you specifically, and sewing vintage-style clothing. I think I want a wardrobe that is at least one-third 1940’s and 1950’s style clothes. I adore them. I’m determined to look cute again and I think I do. That’s really what counts.
