And I would say one that I earned. I don’t have to be in school again until Monday. So far I’ve done dishes, cleaned the kitchen, and watched a chick flick. Exciting life I lead, isn’t it? I have no idea what I’m going to do with all this time on my hands. Read probably. Indulge in that favorite pastime that I don’t get to do much anymore because I’m always studying.
The doors are thrown open again, it’s a beautiful day and getting toward time to plant. The nights still get down to freezing so we’re not there yet, but soon! The dirt is all prepared and looking ready. I’m excited to watch my garden grow this year again. I hope it does well.
I’ve been thinking about what kind of nurse I want to be. I went with OR nurse initially because it sounded interesting. It still does. But there are other specialties that sound interesting, too. In pediatrics I would get to work with kids. In labor and delivery I would help mothers bring their babies into the world. That would be super cool. I’m thinking of babies right now because I’m about to watch a friend’s 2 year old. She’s adorable and makes me miss having kids that age. But, there are all kinds of nurses in as many fields as I can imagine (and several more besides). We are going to go through clinicals and get to experience several different kinds of nursing environments. I hope I find something that speaks to me. Then again, it would be awfully fun to try my hand and different kinds of nursing throughout my career. I just feel like the world is open to me. Some of the end result will not be up to me; it’s going to depend on who’s hiring when I pass my boards and that sort of thing but, I can certainly try for a job in the field I prefer. Now I just need to figure out which one that is.
