Winter wonderland

In a strange twist of weather that only happens about every five years, we’re going to get snow tonight. Yay! We should get 2-4 inches. Living close to the ocean, that’s a big deal. Everything is going to be closed for the next day or two. The grocery stores are going to be cleaned out by this afternoon. Luckily, I have my stash so I don’t have to rush to the store.
I went grocery shopping the day before yesterday and stocked up on several things. Some of it only rarely goes on sale so I had to pay full price. When they go on sale next time I’ll make sure to buy enough for a long time. In the meantime I go to the store that has the lowest regular price. Since I try to go shopping every two weeks, that’s how much I bought. I still look at the store ads weekly though to see if anything I need is on sale.
One of my friends told me she was going to go to the grocery store this afternoon for hair dye and mouthwash. Bad idea. Unless you have no food in the house or truly need something to get you through, do not go to the store right before a storm! There won’t be any bread or milk or batteries or whatever left, and all you’ll find are desperate, cranky people. Whenever possible, keep an eye on the weekly weather and stock up early. Better yet, have a stash that will last you a week or more. Mine will last a month or so before I totally deplete it. More on that later.
Anyway, I’m hoping for a snow day tomorrow. It’ll give me a chance to catch up on my reading for school.
